Body Rocket: Pre-Order Now Open!
Body Rocket is the world’s first real-time aerodynamic direct drag force measurement system for cyclists and triathletes
15 October 2024, Brighton UK: Body Rocket, the tech startup behind the world’s first and only real-time aerodynamic direct drag force measurement system for cyclists and triathletes has today opened pre-orders via Kickstarter.
Body Rocket was designed to help pro and amateur athletes understand aero and ride faster without disrupting their training or requiring them to be aerospace engineers. This groundbreaking system accurately measures live direct drag on the road, giving reliable aero data as you ride.
Whilst wind tunnels are widely considered the gold standard in accurately measuring aerodynamics, there’s only a limited number in existence. These facilities can be expensive to use and are often reserved for athletes at the very top level of sport, despite being the most sought-after performance gain for road cyclists and triathletes around the world.
Even if access weren’t an issue, wind tunnels require an expert to interpret the data and riding in static, laboratory conditions doesn’t always translate to riding in the real world, riding for longer periods or over multiple rides.
The Body Rocket system uses a series of wireless, proprietary force sensors located at all the rider contact points - the handlebar/stem, seatpost/saddle and pedals, coupled with an out-front mounted airspeed sensor. The system measures, then transmits, aero data directly into a Garmin head unit, giving live feedback on a rider’s aerodynamics and body position. The brand’s proprietary AI-driven analysis software ‘BRIAN’ (Body Rocket Individualised Ai Network), guides users through the process and helps them track their progress over time, without them needing to become aero experts.
Launching its first ever pre-order today via Kickstarter, the brand intends to begin shipping to consumers from May 2025. A variety of order tiers and options are available at launch, from early bird discounts starting at £2,200 to aero coaching packages with renowned former pro cyclist Alex Dowsett and his coaching company Thighs Club. These are expected to sell quickly so anyone planning to order is advised not to delay.
Eric DeGolier, Founder of Body Rocket, said, ‘This is a significant moment, both for Body Rocket and for me personally. It’s the culmination of years of ideation, development and refinement and I’m really proud of what we, as a team, have accomplished. We set out on a mission to make aerodynamics more accessible to all cyclists and triathletes and I’m pleased to say that we have achieved that and can’t wait to start manufacturing and shipping. Seeing our systems out in the world, in the hands of consumers, has the potential to not only advance human performance but also help shape the development of new generations of cycling products and progress our entire collective understanding of cycling aerodynamics’.

About Body Rocket
Body Rocket is creating the world’s first device to provide real-time aerodynamic direct drag force measurement for cyclists and triathletes, with the accuracy of a wind tunnel. The patented technology (UK only and USA applied-for) provides the rider with real-time drag measurement collected by sensors on the seat post, handlebars and pedals, which is then beamed wirelessly to a Garmin cycle computer.
Eric DeGolier, Founder, came up with the idea of Body Rocket while training to compete at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, as the able-bodied tandem captain with three-time Paralympian Matt King in the match sprint and kilo. A design engineer, he’s worked for industry leaders Trek Bicycles, PowerTap, and CycleOps.
